Game of Thrones has lost its way

This article sums up my thoughts fairly well so I’ll let it do my talking.
The series started out well but since then both the books and TV series have gone downhill for me. Season 5 kind of put the icing on the cake. The series and books sprawl from here to there showing unimportant or irrelevant story-lines (e.g. Arya up to season 5), abandoning characters or ending plot-lines like blind alleys, etc.

It’s like they’ve forgotten the point of the exercise; to entertain or at least tell a coherent story. The worst offences were evident this season where I noted that the series has actually become predictable in finding ways to disappoint the viewer.

A story is not as entertaining when it’s just an endless bag of sadness.
You can only keep that up for so long before the viewer becomes uninterested and wanders off.

Effects of acetaminophen on male babies during pregnancy

Some new information that crossed my desk today via this study.

My initial thoughts…

  • Results were obtained in a mouse xenograft model for obvious reasons; results in human pregnancy may vary
  • One day exposure didn’t have any effect. One week exposure was significant. Therefore, I don’t think this should affect sporadic acute treatment too much
  • It’s good information to supply patients so they may adjust their use accordingly

Slingbox advertising

I really enjoyed my slingbox up until recently. Then the decision was made to add advertising to the viewing software. This includes, at the time of writing, interstitial ads that you must watch before watching your television via your slingbox.

I paid for the hardware. I even paid for the iPhone and iPad viewer apps. Now, after the fact, I have to watch ads before I can use my hardware? Can you imagine buying a toaster and then having to watch an ad each time you want to make toast with it? No? Neither can I.

So disappointed. It appears my time with slingbox is at an end. 🙁
